The Bishop of the Niger, the Rt. Rev. Dr. Owen Chiedozie Nwokolo (JP) today graced the 2024 Annual Diocesan Church Workers’ Wives Retreat holding at Bethany Chapel, Crowther Retreat Center, Onitsha.

The retreat brings together all Clergy, Catechist and Church teachers’ wives in the Diocese on the Niger for a period of Spiritual renewal and rededication for their ministry through Prayers, Expositions, Seminar etc.

In His charge to the Workers wives, Bishop Owen shared the “11 Habits of an Effective kingdom (Woman) Leader.” He emphasized that the wife of a minister must understand that progress requires embracing these habits:

  1. Taking responsibility i.e owning up the ministerial duty.
  2. Setting high standards in ministerial duties and being passionate to achieve the standards.
  3. Continuous quest for all round self-improvement which includes mental, spiritual, academic, and communication skills.
  4. Ability to Listen to people both superiors and subordinates.
  5. Building a support network of people with integrity and prioritizing relationships.
  6. Ability to be quiet in certain situations even under pressure while seeking God’s guidance before speaking.
  7. Filtering tasks and prioritizing what needs to be done.
  8. Sound relationships with colleagues and co-workers.
  9. Delegating Responsibility and seeking feedback from those delegated.
  10. Make decisions based on facts not emotions and avoid ambiguity.
  11. Emulating mentors and those who are better and ahead in ministry.

In her vote of thanks, Mrs. Ogechukwu Obichukwu expressed gratitude to the Bishop for finding time to be with them and for sharing valuable leadership insights. She also thanked the President of the Women’s Ministry, Dr. Mrs. Elsie Nwokolo, for her motherly care and exemplary leadership.
