Foundation Stone Laid for 200-Bed Hostel at University on the Niger: A Historic Milestone

Today marked another momentous occasion for the University on the Niger Umunya, as the Dean of the Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion, His Grace, the Most Rev. Dr. Blessing Enyindah (Archbishop of the Ecclesiastical Province of Niger Delta and Bishop of Ikwerre Diocese) ably represented by His Grace, the Most Rev. Dr. Alexander C. Ibezim (Archbishop of the Province on the Niger and Bishop of Awka Diocese) laid the foundation stone of the 200 bed capacity hostel being built by the Superannuation Fund East of the Niger at the University permanent site Umunya.

In his exhortation, His Grace, the Most Rev. Dr. Alexander Ibezim, thanked God Almighty for His Blessings and Wisdom upon the Bishop and Wife and the entire Diocese on the Niger. He commended the Chancellor of the University and the Diocesan Bishop, His Lordship, the Rt Rev. Dr. Owen Chiedozie Nwokolo and Wife Dr. Mrs. Elsie Nwokolo for their unwavering and tireless efforts to establish the University on the Niger as a pace-setting citadel of learning that will be a landmark for generations to come.

He also thanked the Superannuation fund team for their support in building the 200 bed capacity hostel which will foster academic learning and promote the wellbeing of the students.

The Vice Chancellor of the University on the Niger, Very Rev Prof Chiendu Nebo (CON) thanked the Archbishop, Bishops, Clergy and all present and restated the the University’s uncompromising commitment to quality education and morals.

The President General of Umunya community, Hon. Chief Chinedu Gilbert Ekwugha, thanked the Archbishop of the Province on the Niger, the Most Rev. Dr. Alexander Ibezim, His Lordship, the Rt Rev. Dr. Owen Chiedozie Nwokolo, Mama Niger and other Bishops present for their visit to Umunya community and solicited prayers for the community.
