In line with one of the core values of the Rt. Rev. Dr. Owen Nwokolo which is effective workers training and retraining, the Deacons in the Diocese on the Niger recently concluded their over six months long Post Ordination Training at the Diocesan Church Center Onitsha.
The Deacons were exposed to studies on Liturgy & Worship, Anglicanism, Conflict Resolution, Christian Ethics, Mission & Evangelism and Communication & Counseling handled by seasoned lecturers which were mainly senior Clergy of the Diocese and dynamically coordinated by the Rector of DCC, Ven. Dr. Izuchukwu Obiekwe.
The Deacons were thoroughly examined in practical and written forms that culminated with the project defense on the 27th May 2024.
The graduation activities began with a Graduation Lecture and Dinner evening held on Friday 31st May 2024 at the Diocesan Church Centre. The Lecture was Chaired by the Sub Dean of All Saints’ Cathedral Onitsha, Ven Samuel Ezewudo and the Keynote Speaker was Ven Barr. Anene Nzelu who spoke on the Clergy and Children Ministry.
The graduation ceremony held on Saturday 1st June 2024 at the Bethany Chapel within the Diocesan Church Center. The event was marked with Holy Communion service, impactful graduation speech by Ven Dr Eric Anozie, Chairman DCC Management Board and award of Certificates cum Gifts led by the Rector Ven. Dr. Izuchukwu Obiekwe.
A total of eighteen (18) Deacons went through the 2023/2024 Post Ordination Training and today 5th June 2024, the graduation events was concluded with Thanksgiving at the Calvary Chapel Bishopscourt Onitsha.
