Young Anglican Crusaders

The vision of Young Anglican Crusaders (YAC) came in 1991 from a then Clergy man, now Rt. Rev. S. C. Chukwuka (Retired) when he attended a conference in England and saw how teens and youths demonstrated their zeal and worshipped God with their talents. He noticed the marked reluctance of the youths in church activities and in the propagation of the gospel in Anglican Church in Nigeria. This passive posture of the youths in the church prompted the formation of the Young Anglican Crusaders.

YAC on the Niger started in the year 1998 at St. Peter’s Anglican Church Oba by the then Engr. Prince Igwe; now Rev’d Engr. Prince Igwe. YAC began to spread to other Churches in the Diocese and due to her impact in the life of the youth in the Diocese, YAC was inaugurated on 7th September 2008 by the then Bishop on the Niger, Rt. Rev. Ken Sandy Edozie Okeke (now Retired).

Anglican Crusaders (YAC) with the following aims:

  1. To primarily win the youth of our generation to Christ and to raise a generation who knows Christ as their Lord and Saviour.
  2. To win the youths in the Anglican Communion to Christ and to inspire them to reach out to other youths with the message of Christ.
  3. To reach out to the young ones in our secondary schools and tertiary institutions, to build them to a hopeful future by harnessing the potentials.
  4. To make sure that the position of the youths in God’s divine programme for the church and the nation is occupied by the youths.
  5. To make better provisions for the church and nation for tomorrow by training up God-fearing and dynamic youth leaders.
  6. To advance Anglicanism by living a word-based life and to effectively fight the good fight of faith under the banner of Christ.
